We are completing our unit on Integers. Students have been using their knowledge of integer rules (add/subtract/multiply/divide) to solve multi-step problems and word problems. Here is how the week will look:
Monday April 16 - Practice BEDMAS / Order of Operations questions Tuesday April 17 - BEDMAS Quiz / Mathletics Wednesday April 18 - Final Unit Review Thursday April 19 - Unit Final Test Students have been provided with a variety of notes and worksheets to help them with this unit. Calculators are not permitted, however they are more than welcome to use a multiplication table. We have started our unit on Integers. Topics will include:
Students have started their Skittles Lab to reinforce the concepts of ratio/rate/proportional reasoning. Once the lab is completed, students will be looking at word problems and application questions to apply their understanding and knowledge of the concepts covered in this unit.
Our next unit of study will be Rates/Ratios/Proportional Reasoning. Daily notes and practice will be uploaded to the blog, as well to D2L.

Free, drop-in, math tutoring for kids 10 – 12 years old from trained volunteers every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. We are coming to the end of our Percent/Fraction/Decimals unit. The last section will focus on conversions between percents, decimals and fractions, as well as problem solving and application questions.
Students are encouraged to have a calculator with them everyday to support their learning in this unit. We have completed our Fractions unit and we are now moving on to Fractions/Percent and Decimals and the relationships between them. Students will explore how fractions, percent and decimals are related to one another, conversions from one form to another, and apply the concepts in word and application type problems.
We have almost completed our Fractions unit. Students have reviewed the concepts of addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers, as well as learned how to multiply and divide fractions and mixed numbers. We are finishing the unit with application questions and Order of Operations (BEDMAS).
Our next unit will be Fractions, Decimals and Percents. |
