We are continuing to work through our unit on Solving Linear Equations. We've spent the past few classes reviewing important concepts that are necessary to move ahead with the unit.
Posted in the 9C shell on D2L is an informational document that provides examples of what the Grade 9 students can expect on their Provincial Achievement Tests in June. All 4 core subject areas are included in the document. Students were shown the math component in class today.

Happy New Year! As we welcome 2018, the grade 9 students will start with our Solving Linear Equations unit. Notes, worksheets and practice sheets will be posted on D2L.
We are continuing to work through our polynomials unit. Students have learned how to use tiles to represent polynomials, simplify them, as well as adding and subtracting polynomials.
We are moving on to multiplication of polynomials through the use of tiles as well as solving them mathematically. Notes and worksheets are posted in the 9C shell in D2L. We are currently working through our third unit, Polynomials. Students have been studying the concepts:
We will finish the unit with:
Students will be writing their Power and Exponents Unit final test tomorrow (November 16th). They have spend time working through practice P.A.T. questions to reinforce the concepts. These questions are included in this blog post. Students are also permitted to create and bring a study guide with them to the test. The topics are attached to this blog post as well. Any necessary notes can be found on my blog - the students are aware of this.
Additional Power Laws Worksheets:
Students are continuing to work through the Powers and Exponents unit. Today we looked at Power Laws for the Products and Quotients. We are in the final stages of the unit - our next topic will be word problems and application of Powers and Exponents.
The students are continuing to work through the Powers and Exponents unit. Today they will be practicing the concepts already covered thus far to ensure understanding, which include evaluating powers, and working on questions that deal with the Laws of Exponents.
Students will be writing a short quiz tomorrow to review the concepts we have covered in this unit thus far - powers and exponents, base 10 powers, and scientific notation.
Students are currently working through the Powers and Exponents unit. We have reviewed the parts of a power, expressing and evaluating powers, base 10 powers and scientific notation.
