Free, drop-in, math tutoring for kids 10 – 12 years old from trained volunteers every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. We are finishing our unit on circles. Students have been practicing using the given formulas for area and circumference of a circle. The last section of the unit will be word problems and application problems using the concepts related to circles. Students are reminded to have a calculator with them to work through the problems easily.
Our next unit of study will be Patterns and Relations (Algebra). We are continuing to explore circles. Topics will include:
In order for students to be active learners in the classroom, it is important that they come to class prepared with the necessary supplies. Students should have with them every day:
Specific to our Circles unit, students have been asked to bring:
Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a restful break. To start off 2018, the students will be working with circles. We will look at the properties of circles, circumference, and area. Students will be constructing and drawing circles so I am requesting them to have a geometry set for math class, or at the very least a ruler and a compass. Thanks so much!
