We are finishing our unit on circles. Students have been practicing using the given formulas for area and circumference of a circle. The last section of the unit will be word problems and application problems using the concepts related to circles. Students are reminded to have a calculator with them to work through the problems easily.
Our next unit of study will be Patterns and Relations (Algebra). We are continuing to explore circles. Topics will include:
In order for students to be active learners in the classroom, it is important that they come to class prepared with the necessary supplies. Students should have with them every day:
Specific to our Circles unit, students have been asked to bring:
Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a restful break. To start off 2018, the students will be working with circles. We will look at the properties of circles, circumference, and area. Students will be constructing and drawing circles so I am requesting them to have a geometry set for math class, or at the very least a ruler and a compass. Thanks so much!
We are continuing our work through Geometry. Students are exploring parallelograms and triangles and we'll finish the unit looking at the circumference and area of circles.
The students have been working the Measurement and Geometry unit. We have been exploring:
We have completed our unit on Coordinate Graphing and Transformations (translations, reflections and rotations). The unit final test will be Monday November 13. Below I have added a link to the chapter from the textbook. Included at the end of the chapter is a chapter review and practice test.
Today the students completed an assignment on translations and reflections. The last topic in the unit is rotations, which we will be looking at tomorrow.
Students are continuing to work through the coordinates and design unit. Today the students will be working on some practice sheets to review the concepts covered in class to this point.
Students are currently working through our Coordinates and Design unit. We have created a foldable that details the important parts of the Cartesian Plane and practiced plotting points. The students are now working on Transformations. We have covered Translations, and are now moving on to Reflections. Students have been asked to bring a ruler, protractor and compass to class.
